Chrissy Doll

I didn't have this doll but several of my friends did. Chrissy had short hair but it would grow if you turned the knob on her back. To make her hair short again you would press a button on her belly. I wished I had a Chrissy doll!

Raggedy Andy

My sister also had a Raggedy Andy doll, I think she got it the year after she got her Raggedy Ann doll. It was a bit smaller than the Raggedy Ann doll.

Raggedy Ann Doll

My sister got a Raggedy Ann doll for Christmas when she was in grade 3. I remember because it was the same year I got a Holly Hobbie doll.

Crochet Doll

My aunt used to make doll like these with crochet dresses that would fit over a roll of toilet paper.

Scottish Doll

My sister had a doll like this, I think my aunt and uncle gave it to her.

Doll Cakes

My aunt (who lived next door) made cakes of all kinds. Growing up we always had a special cake for our birthday. She also made wedding cakes. When her daughter got married each bridesmaid had a cake that looked like her in front of them at the head table. The pans and doll bodies are for sale on eBay, I'm showing a photo from the 70's to show the cakes my aunt made (my 2 older sisters were bridesmaids at my cousin's wedding, these are their cakes).

Baby Doll

I had a doll very similar to the one in the middle. So far I haven't found the exact one on eBay. My doll had the same short blonde hair, the same face, the same pink bunting bag. But her little jacket was also pink. I remember picking her out of the Sears Christmas catalogue when I was in grade 2 and I remember bringing her to school after Christmas for Show-and-Tell.

Chatty Cathy Cut-Outs

My older sister owned this and I loved playing with it. The doll was so big with so many beautiful outfits to wear.

The Wonder Book of Dolls

This was my book, it was full of all types of dolls.

Lazy Dazy Cutouts

My sister also had the Lazy Dazy cutouts, see yesterday's post for more info on Lazy Dazy.

Lazy Dazy Doll

My sister had this doll, I think she got it for Christmas one year. Looking back on it, I don't think this doll would be sold today. You had to spank Lazy Dazy on the bottom, sit her down, then she would fall asleep. Child abuse!! :) I found the commercial on YouTube, I am posting that as well.

Barbie Furniture

My sister got this for Christmas one year, blow-up Barbie doll furniture. Before this we made furniture out of everything, from pillows to frisbees.

Robin

This was my brother's. Can you believe he had a Robin doll that could bend his knees, ankles, elbows and wrists and I never had a Barbie doll that could do that, just the cheap imitation ones with stiff legs and arms. No, I'm not bitter.

Randy Rider

This was my younger sister's doll (she always had the dolls that did stuff, my dolls didn't do anything). Randy Rider came with a bike and she could actually ride the bike. This was amazing for us back in the 70's. My sister blamed me for breaking it, apparently I sat on it and broke the wheel off the bike. But it was under a pile of clothes so it wasn't really my fault!

Baby Tender Love

These "cut-outs" were my younger sister's but of course I played with them as well. I don't think little girls play with paper dolls anymore, but we certainly had fun with them.

Holly Hobbie

This was the last doll I owned, I got her for Christmas when I was in grade 4. My younger sister got a Raggedy Ann doll the same year.

February Girl

I guess I was a young teenager when my mom bought me this figurine. I kept her on my dresser in my bedroom. My 3 sisters had similar ones for their birth month as well.
