Last Supper Illuminated Picture

One of my aunts had this picture in her home, I don't remember who. There was a light on top that shone down on the painting. Tres tacky, sure glad we didn't have one in our home.

Noel Fork & Spoon

This was hung on our front door every Christmas. Nothing says Merry Christmas like a giant plastic fork and spoon, right?

Crumb Broom

My aunt had one of these on her kitchen wall by the stove, I remember it vividly. The dress on hers was pink, though. It was a little broom and dustpan for the table. I don't think she ever used it other than as a decoration.

Moose Rug

We had a moose rug like this one on our living room wall. It was there for years until we got another one, of a bear (I blogged about it here already). That's my older sister in the photo, it was obviously her birthday, and what better place to take a birthday portrait than in front of the moose rug?

"The Rapture"

My parents had this print framed on their bedroom wall. I won't go into all the religious aspects of it. On some mornings my younger brother, sister and I would jump into Mom and Dad's bed after they got up and we'd play "Eye Spy". Finding an obscure item in this print was usually what we did.

Painted Canvas

I am not sure what this is called. My aunt had this on her living room wall over her piano. Her daughter painted it for her, rather than use brushes you used tubes of paint. This was for sale on eBay unpainted.

String Art

In the 70's we learned how to do string art in elementary school. Get a piece of wood, cover it with a piece of material (preferably black velvet) and then place a pattern over it that was printed out on a piece of paper. The pattern was dots and you would then nail a small brass nail on each dot. Then tear away the paper and start your art. We'd use crochet cotton for the string and wind it around each nail and string it from nail to nail until we had a pattern made. I guess there was a sequence you had to follow to get it to come out looking right. We mostly made abstract designs (like a spirograph would make) but there were other designs as well. I remember a boat like this with the seagulls in the sky.

Angel Fish

We had 2 angelfish like this one on our living room wall. They were made of plaster, I think collectors call it chalkware. Why you would want to collect these is beyond me. Dad must have painted ours, in the early 70's they were pink and gold and later on they were yellow and grey, as you can see in the photos. Fortunately they disappeared forever in the 80's.

Bear Wall Rug

This was the 2nd wall rug we owned, before this we had one with 2 moose on it. I think my cousin gave us this one, I vaguely remember him saying he didn't like the moose one (I think he said it was too small for the wall). Of course looking back I think they were both tacky, but it was the 70's! Actually I think this photo was taken in the early 80's. It must have been Mom's birthday.

Capricorn Picture

You can barely see this because the photo is so small but it is a plaque for the wall with Capricorn on it and a little saying. My sister owned it.

Mallards

We had 3 mallard ducks like these hanging on the living room wall.

Peachy

We had 2 of these small peach plaques on the kitchen wall above the cupboards. I guess they were made of plaster.

Tacky Home Decor

Ah the 70's.....era of tacky home decor. This hung on our living room wall for years. Sometime in the 80's it was banished to the basement.
